Originally released in 1997 as part of a 2CD box-set entitled 'Confessions Of A Hyperdreamer', a double album of archive material recorded over the period 1992-95.

"'Weird Critters', is a mixture of vocal and instrumental recordings from my somewhat minimalist home studio.
All of the music was composed 'Direct-to-tape', utilising first takes wherever possible. The result is a kind of 'Sonic Snapshot'... an idea frozen in time at its moment of conception.
Whilst there was no pre-determined form for these pieces, I nevertheless tried to retain a sense of lightness and playfulness... like a boy having fun with his toys on a rainy day. These recordings are neither high-fidelity nor low-fidelity but simply true to the moment, and for me, that moment is always changing." - Bill Nelson

Bill Nelson

Founder of Be-Bop Deluxe in 1973, guitarist Bill Nelson wrote all of the bands material. Signed to EMI, the band released five studio albums and scored a top ten UK hit with the single "Ships In The Night."
In 1979 Bill disbanded Be-Bop Deluxe and launched Red Noise.
As a solo artist he's worked with David Sylvian, Harold Budd and Cabaret Voltaire as well as producing The Skids and Gary Numan. ... more
