sotelosphere I’m really liking JTA because of great orchestration and the interesting singing of Bill. The short Ampex pieces give a compelling texture to the vocal numbers.

about

Originally released on CD in July 2012, 'Joy Through Amplification' was perhaps the most 'rock' oriented Bill Nelson album for some years. It features raw, edgy guitar work and strong percussion. The album's 13 vocal tracks are separated by 13 short, abstract guitar instrumental interludes which provide an experimental element, almost like an album within an album.

“The album is, in some ways, a response to those who have wanted a rock album from me. I could have done a '70s style, Be Bop Deluxe sort of thing, but there’s little fun for me in that as I covered those bases all those years ago...so I thought I’d do something even more rock than Be Bop, but push it out of shape a little whilst incorporating some of the stylised machismo elements that real rock bands take so seriously, (much to my amusement!).
So there’s some chugging, deliberately dumb and dirty riffs, squalling wah-wah guitars, semi-moronic drumming and even a touch of shredding.”

This release comes complete with downloadable PDF artwork.
